La relajación comienza en el momento en que sube a bordo de nuestro elegante catamarán de dos pisos y se embarca en una experiencia de spa sin igual. Enjoyed everything, the fish tanks were bliss as was the exfoliating scrub and massage. The staff were brilliant especially Pedro. Will be doing this again next time we are here. Great experience and value.

Pedro was very good explaining everything and keeping everyone safe , the overall experience was like a military operation but the treatments were lovely and nice to relax in the boat afterwards . Nice lunch and pickup was on time , would have liked a full body massage on both sides of my body as well as the body scrub was only on front of the body and massage was on the back

We really enjoyed the whole experience was a really nice day, both me and my wife really enjoyed it. Maybe the massage could have been for a bit longer as that was the main reason we booked it. The guide was great and kept giving us loads of information.

This was a brilliant trip and very well organised. The treatments we had onboard were fabulous, it was really relaxing. Lunch was at a restaurant in the ocean, food was delicious. We floated in the ocean on mattresses, a body scrub, a massage, a yoga session and fish nibbling our feet. Our guide and all the crew were helpful, polite and we felt very safe.

You'll learn about local history, plants and crops, and get to try home-grown coffee and fruit, too.'Fun facts, exotic wildlife and the chance to take a river swim – this tour has it all. After pick-up from your hotel, we'll head deep into the Dominican outback. And because we'll visit the less-travelled parts of the country, it helps support areas that don't usually benefit from tourism. What's more, you'll be part of a small group of just 16 guests, minimising our carbon footprint. ‘It's a great way to get in touch with nature and give back to the rural community,' says Alex. Santo Domingo is brimming with architectural and historical gems. It's a city that tells a fascinating story, as it was the first city established in the ‘New World' by Europeans. Luis, one of our local guides, says, ‘We like to say we were the first – we had the first church in the Americas, the first hospital, first monastery and first university. All here, in Santo Domingo.' You'll discover the major sights as well as the secrets of the colonial past by coach, train and foot on this sightseeing tour.Kick off at Independence Park before heading into the warren of cobbled streets that is the old town – known as the Zona Colonial – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You'll see sites dating back to the 15th century and visit the Gothic Cathedral of Santa Maria and the Alcazar de Colon, which belonged to Christopher Columbus's family. You'll find out more about the complex history of the island with a 4D cinema experience recounting the storming of the city on New Year's Day in 1586 by English privateers led by Francis Drake.Next, hop aboard a mini-train for a tour of the colonial zone before stopping for lunch. You'll savour traditional Dominican dishes in a family-owned restaurant. It's a showstopping location in a 16th century colonial building full of character and charm. Round off the day with a stroll along Calle de las Damas – site of the Pantheon and Ozama Fort, then enjoy free time to shop or explore. This half-day trip to Xploration Animal Park has family fun stamped all over it. Don't believe us? One of our guides, Noel, gives it his own seal of approval. ‘I'm a father of four, and because we live close to the park, it's one of our favourite places to visit. Whenever I'm guiding this tour, I arrive with a smile on my face, knowing I'll be spending the day surrounded by beautiful landscapes and incredible animals.' You'll be picked up and taken on a scenic voyage into the hills of Nisibon in the northeast of the Dominican Republic. On arrival at Xploration, there's a presentation on the park from one of our expert guides. It's Noel's favourite part of the tour. ‘I love explaining the differences between our animals and how they help us work the land,' he says.Jump aboard the bus for a panoramic drive around the park, or head out on foot to find your own hidden viewpoints over the landscape. You'll spot the likes of rabbit, deer, ostrich and emu, plus see cows being milked. Enjoy a drink and snack as well as time to meet the farm animals, including goats, sheep and pigs. What's more, all visits support the park's dog rescue shelter. And, as the heat ramps up, cool down with the option to kayak, paddleboard or bamboo raft. For Noel, this part of the experience brings back great memories. He says, ‘When I was younger, my family and I used to come and fish at the River Maimon. I remember those days well and want guests to make memories with their own families here, too.'

You'll drive through winding rural dirt tracks through plantations all the way to the famous Domitai Cave Park and a replica Taino village. Luis, one of our local guides, says, ‘We are the world's largest producer of organic, fair trade cocoa. Around half of our cocoa is made into the finest chocolate you can buy. So, trying traditional cocoa products in a Dominican farm is a real treat, even if you don't have a sweet tooth.'Kick off with some mud-splattered, high-octane fun as you ride cross-country to a cenote cave for a swim in the Domitai Cave Park. These sinkholes with clear, fresh water are perfect for a cooling dip. As it's a private venue, there are fewer crowds and vendors than at other cenotes. You'll also get to savour some local specialities such as empanadas and pineapple wine. Next, drop by a recreated Taino village – they were the aborigines who lived on the island before Columbus arrived – where you'll observe a folkloric show.Plus, you'll learn all about the production of local crops which are so critical to the local economy – coconut oil, sugarcane, coffee and chocolate as well as the unique Dominican chocolate tea.
